Thanks to dedicated volunteers, the Houston Golf Association has been able to generate more than $64 million for local charities since 1974 and deliver on our stated mission of promoting golf for the benefit of local charities.
The Shell Houston Open’s success relies on the support of dedicated volunteers to assist with many aspects of the golf tournament. Volunteers are given free access to the tournament, free shuttle service, and complimentary meals during volunteer shifts.
All tournament volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. When you agree to volunteer, you must sign a standard waiver that indicates you are volunteering your time and are not a paid employee of the tournament, Houston Golf Association, Shell Oil Company, or Golf Club of Houston.

We ask volunteers to represent the tournament in a professional and courteous manner. Positive attitude, flexibility and a desire to give back to the community is a must. Uniforms are an integral part of volunteer recognition. All on-course volunteers are required to purchase an official uniform package. Volunteers must wear this uniform, along with the volunteer badge, each time they are scheduled to work so that they may be easily identified by contestants, TOUR officials and spectators.
The basic uniform includes a shirt, jacket and headwear. Both men and ladies have the option of wearing a visor or cap. Volunteers are to provide khaki bottoms. Please note: men are not allowed to wear shorts.

Any remaining inventory will be available for purchase in the Volunteer Headquarters during the week of the Shell Houston Open.
Volunteer Uniform Pick Up
Volunteers will have the option to have their items shipped at an additional cost or pick their package up on site at one of the dates/location below:

On March 11, Shell Houston Open volunteers can work with a PGA TOUR Superstore Certified club fitter free of charge. Using the latest launch monitor technology to analyze ball flight characteristics, or using fitting tools to get your shot pattern dialed in, the PGA TOUR Superstore can help you with any aspect of your game. Be sure to bring a current club to compare against so you can see the measurable improvement in your golf shots.

* In order to receive a golf voucher each volunteer MUST work a minimum of 3 separate days. Days worked may be accumulated from multiple committees. Volunteers may not earn more than 1 voucher each. Vouchers will be mailed directly to each eligible volunteer following the tournament. (Vouchers are valid until September 30, 2017. There will be no extension on the deadline date)

All volunteers are required to purchase a basic uniform package for $80, which consists of shirt, headwear and jacket. Volunteers must wear their own khaki slacks (men) or khaki shorts, skirts, skorts or pants (ladies). Your uniform identifies you as a volunteer and entitles you to ride the shuttle bus free of charge as well as enter the Volunteer Headquarters Tent for food and beverage.
Food and beverage will be available in the Volunteer Headquarters Tent or at any concession stand located on the golf course. Volunteers MUST check in before their shift to acquire a FREE food voucher.
All volunteers are expected to wear their credential at all times while working at the tournament.
Uniforms for volunteers who opted to pay to have their uniform shipped will go out starting February 20.
Uniform pick up for volunteers who elect to pick up their package will be on site at one of the dates below at the Dick Harmon Learning Center, located at 5809 Wilson Road, across from the HGA office.

Volunteer parking is on-site from Monday through Wednesday and at the ecopark lot at Bush Airport from Thursday through Sunday. Being in uniform entitles you to free shuttle transportation. Shuttle bus service begins at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. Volunteers have the option to purchase discounted on-site parking for $10 each day at the time of registration.
Volunteers receive four (4) Good-Any-Day Grounds tickets valued at $160 to share with family and friends. Your volunteer credential is good for admission the entire week.
