Guess the Birdies Contest Finals set Thursday
The Grand Finale of the Shell Houston Open Guess the Birdies contest is set for Thursday at 2:30 PM at the Dick Harmon Learning Center. One of the 55 finalists who correctly guessed that 1,750 birdies would be made during the 2012 Shell Houston Open will win a 2012 Toyota Camry, courtesy of Gulf States Toyota and the Houston Golf Association.

"This is the first of many charitable endeavors this year for the Houston Golf Association and the Shell Houston Open," said Steve Timms, HGA president/CEO and tournament director for the Shell Houston Open. "We provide the collateral material to the charities free of charge and devote staff time to administer the program. The only cost of this program is effort on the part of those collecting pledges and donations."

Each finalist will randomly draw a number, then select a key and the first finalist whose key starts the Camry claims the automobile.

Individuals or businesses submitted either pledges or donations through the Shell Houston Open Birdies for Charity Program prior to this spring's Shell Houston Open. Pledges could be a penny-per-birdie or more and flat donations could be any amount $20 or more. Participating organizations receive every penny collected by the Houston Golf Association, which underwrites the cost of the program which has generated more than $5.7 million for local worthy causes since 1999.

Toyota is the official car of the Shell Houston Open.
