PGA TOUR
- Phil Mickelson has finished 1-2-3 in the first three major
championships of the year. Ernie Els is the only other player to have three Top-10 finishes in the 2004 majors. He has four in a row overall.
- John Daly leads the PGA TOUR's All-Around stats category. His best
previous finish in that category was 38th in 2001.
- Patrick Sheehan has the current longest streak on TOUR of not
3-puttting -- 256 holes. He also has made the most putts from 25 feet and beyond this season -- 36. That's 11 more than the next best player, Tim Petrovic.
- Only four players on TOUR are under-par for the season on Par-3s and
only six can make the same claim on Par-4s. However, all 192 ranked players on TOUR are under-par on the Par-5s.
- Davis Love III will be making his 58th consecutive start in a major
championship. That's the longest current streak, but well short of Jack Nicklaus' all-time record of 146 in a row.
- Three players in the last 16 years have made the PGA Championship not
only their first major championship victory, but their first career wins on the PGA TOUR as well. Jeff Sluman (1988), John Daly (1991) and defending champ Shaun Micheel all won their first TOUR crowns at the PGA Championship.
NATIONWIDE TOUR
- Rod Pampling's win at THE INTERNATIONAL last week was the 151st victory
by a former Nationwide Tour player on the PGA TOUR.
- When Charles Warren won last week's Cox Classic it was his second
consecutive victory on the Tour. He's only the eighth player (and second this year) to win in consecutive starts. Daniel Chopra did it earlier in the year and has not played since. Chopra and Warren will try in Springfield, MO, this week to become the first to ever win three in a row.
- Who's made the biggest strides since last year on the Nationwide Tour?
Bradley Hughes has improved 128 places on the money list (139th to 11th) while Bryce Molder (148th to 39th) has gained 109 spots and Johnson Wagner (120th to 26th) 94 places.
- The long- hitters showed off last week in Omaha with the field
averaging an amazing 310.3 yards off the tee. The driving leader overall on the Tour is now Bubba Watson at 325.9. He just qualified for the rankings this week. He leads Victor Schwamkrug (324.2), who also just qualified, and former leader Brett Wetterich (317.9) in a close race.
- There are now five two-time winners on the Nationwide Tour this
year -- Daniel Chopra, D.A. Points, Kevin Stadler, Jimmy Walker and Charles Warren. This is the earliest date on record that the Nationwide Tour has had five multiple winners. The record for multiple winners in a season is seven. It was first done in 1995 and matched in 1999.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
- John Harris had his radar working last week at the 3M Championship. He
made a hole-in-one during the Pro-Am and came back in the second round to make a double eagle.
- Hale Irwin leads the money list at age 59. If he goes on to claim his
fourth money title, he'll be the oldest player in Champions Tour history to do so. He'll break his own record, too. He won the money title in 2002 at age 57.
- More on Irwin: He needs only $37,335 to become the first player in
Champions Tour history to win $20 million. Once he does it, it may be awhile before anyone joins him. He's $5,995,232 ahead of the man in second, Gil Morgan.
- Who has the longest streak without 3-putting on the Champions Tour this
year? Gil Morgan is the answer with a streak of 330 consecutive holes.
