Media Credentials Request Info

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THIS PARAGRAPH

The 2008 Shell Houston Open PGA TOUR event will be played the week of April 17-23, at Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Tx. Responding through this website is for accreditation only and does not necessarily ensure that the credentials requested will be automatically granted. The Shell Houston Open will honor working requests by recognized media outlets. Freelance requests will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Space in the media center is limited. All credential requests will be reviewed by Burt Darden, Director of Communications, Houston Golf Association, 5810 Wilson Road, Suite 112, Humble, TX 77396. Deadline for application is Friday, April 9, 2005.

Once your request has been received and approved, you will be mailed or emailed a media card that will gain you access to the Media Center to pick up your credentials. All credentials must be picked up at either the Media Center during tournament week or at the Houston Golf Association headquarters the week prior (Thursday, April 14 - Sunday, April 17 only). No credentials will be mailed.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS ELIGIBILITY

Media credentials will be issued only to full-time personnel of recognized daily and local weekly newspapers, news services, publications that regularly cover golf, national radio and television networks, local radio and television stations as space permits. Since only working credentials are issued, please do not request credentials for employees who will not be directly involved with the coverage of the event.

Freelance reporters and photographers may reserve credentials only through a recognized news agency and only if they are assigned to provide daily coverage or are working on a specific assignment.

The PGA TOUR's media credential requirements for 2008 have changed. Only media members who must have access to the locker room will require photo ID credentials.
  1. Interviewing players in the Media Center or on the golf course will no longer require photo ID credentials
  2. Shooting video or taking photographs of players on the driving range or inside the ropes will no longer require photo ID credentials.
No photo IDs will be taken of freelancers unless they have been retained by a recognized media outlet for the week. PGA TOUR Media Officials will still issue photo/video armbands on a day-by-day basis during tournament week.

Photo IDs issued by other tournaments are not valid at the Shell Houston Open. Only holders of a PGA TOUR-issued media photo credential will be admitted to the tournament and will need no other credentials. However, they are expected to fill out the application form in order for us to make allowances for working space. All media members parking in the lot adjacent to the Media Center must have the proper parking pass or face the possibility of having their vehicle towed.

Complimentary meals for working media will be served in a private area near the Media Center from 11a.m. until 2p.m. Wednesday through Sunday (April 20-24).
