Welcome to the 2006 Shell Houston Open Birdies for Charity fund raising program! It is time to focus on how many "Birdies" will be made at the tournament and how our Birdies for Charity contest can generate dollars for your organization. The Houston Golf Association is ready to provide you with collateral material for a successful fundraising campaign. Invest time and earn significant dollars for your program. The dates for the 2006 Shell Houston Open are April 17-23 on the new Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club. If you would like to participate in the Shell Houston Open Birdies for Charity Program, we will need your help with the following information to activate or reactivate your record for 2006:
A copy of the IRS letter that confirms your organization's 501c (3) status. (Only organizations new to the program need to send or fax)
Please return the registration form located on page 14 of the Birdies for Charity Information Packet which is located at the link below this letter.
Birdies for Charity contact will be the HGA staff (281-454-7000). It is imperative
that you have a representative at Kick-Off Pledge Form distribution, Thursday,
January 26, 2006 at the Humble Civic Center between 1:30-3:00 P.M. An informal
question and answer session is set for 1:30 P.M. for organizations new to
the "Birdies" program. Organizations who have previously participated may
drive through the circular drive on the east side of the Humble Civic Center
and pick up pledge forms and solicitation materials. It will not be necessary
for previous participants to attend the Q&A session, but it will be
essential that someone from your organization pick up pledge forms on this
day.
For those who have not participated before, the pledge forms are part of the collateral material the Houston Golf Association supplies your organization for use in the pledge solicitation. Each organization is responsible for imprinting their name, address, phone number and "bird number" on each form, so each pledge can be properly credited in our database. We suggest that you do this before they are distributed. You may run the forms through printers, copy machines or make mailing labels. Our staff has found that the most time efficient way to imprint the information is by using copy machines, laser or inkjet printers. Your pledge forms will be distributed flat for this purpose. A template for the placement of the contact information is available at www.shellhoustonopen.com under the Birdies for Charity link.
