His second round 67 gave him a 1-stroke lead over Andy Bean and Bob Murphy before he was to lose the lead after the third round ... His two-day total 131 was the best 36-hole total on Tour ... Player was five shots back with 14 holes to play when he made his move ... A 69 (with birdies on two of the last three holes) on the final day gave Player a 1-stroke victory over Bean ... With the Houston Open, Player won his 3rd straight tournament in a row ... His streak started at the Masters, followed by the Tournament of Champions and lastly the Houston Open ...
